Inverness, known as the ‘Capital of the Highlands’, is located on the banks of the River Ness at the head of the Great Glen, making it an ideal base for exploring.

Crowned by athe distinctive pink Inverness Castle, the thriving city of Inverness is small, compact and easy to get around. It offers great shopping (make sure you get something tartan to take home), top-quality places to eat and drink, peaceful areas close to the center for relaxing and a good variety of places to stay.

There are also many attractions around the city. Re-live one of Scotland's most famous battles at Culloden battlefield, marvel at the spectacle of one of the world’s biggest Highland games, founded in 1822 the City of Inverness Highland Games take place every summer, and you can even see a school of dolphins frolic in the nearby Moray Firth, one of the best places in Europe to see these delightful creatures in the wild.
