Argyll, the Isles and Loch Lomond

From tiny Hebridean islands to serene peninsulas, Scotland’s first National Park to the country’s newest city, you will find great variety in Argyll, the Isles, Loch Lomond, Stirling and the Trossachs.

Follow in the footsteps of national heroes who fought in epic battles and head to Stirling where you can climb the National Wallace Monument, a commemoration to William Wallace. Visit the Bannockburn Heritage Centre just outside the city and discover more about the life of King Robert the Bruce who won freedom for the Scots.

Stirling is a compact city, great for shopping, dining and exploring the old cobbled streets which lead to the castle. Make sure you visit the newly refurbished Renaissance Palace at Stirling Castle to experience the decorative style which was dominant in the 1500s.

Head west and you will find beautiful scenery, an abundance of outdoor activities and some unusual species of wildlife in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Enjoy a gentle stroll, take a bike ride, or get out on the water and you might even spot red squirrels, deer and beautiful birds of prey.

Island hopping is the perfect way to explore the interesting quirks of the Inner Hebrides off the west coast while Argyll is famed for its Seafood Trail which includes a fine array of restaurants. Oban is the gateway to the isles, a lively fishing town with a rich history where you will find several attractions including the War and Peace Museum.
