Loch Ness

Loch Ness and Nessie

Where is Loch Ness?
One of the world’s most famous stretches of water, an air of mystery and intrigue surrounds Loch Ness; one of Scotland’s most atmospheric and naturally beautiful locations. Not far from the city of Inverness, the loch is an icon of the Scottish Highlands where you can discover the ruined Urquhart Castle or take a boat trip on the water. The stunning landscape and breathtaking views around Loch Ness make this trip a must on any visit to the region.

What is the Loch Ness Monster?
Will you be the one to spot Nessie? Brought to the world’s attention in 1933, the legend of the Loch Ness Monster still very much exists to this day. With various photographs, videos, sonar contact and reported sightings dating back to the 7th century, make sure you keep your eyes peeled as you explore. Whether Nessie is lurking in the deep water or not is debated, and of course a sighting cannot be guaranteed, but you are certain to see plenty of other wildlife on your trip anyway. Look out for deer on the surrounding moors, red squirrels in the woods and birds soaring overhead.
